Parlec Announces 2005 Westec Product Displays & Demonstrations

Fairport, N.Y. – January 14, 2005 – Presetting, driven & static, workholding and toolholding product lines will all be demonstrated at Parlecís booth (#3912) during this yearís WESTEC show, taking place April 4-7 in Los Angeles, Calif. A special shrink fit demonstration will highlight the companyís toolholding capabilities. Parlec will be showcasing a variety of new products at this yearís show. Toolholding Product Manager, Dave Hartman, will also be demonstrating the companyís shrink fit capabilities on Tues. April 4, at 10:45 a.m. in the Technology Theatre.

Hartman will discuss and demonstrate the best practices for shrink fit technology. His discussion will focus on how the technology provides an advantage over traditional holding methods while dispelling some common myths on the topic.

As Parlecs newest product line, the driven & static line is targeted towards the entire driven tooling market while also offering custom built tools for major lathe manufacturers such as Mazak, Nakamura, Citizen, HAAS, Romi and Doosan. The line, which unveiled a variety of products in 2004, with many more planned for 2005, will be a prominent part of the companyís display at WESTEC.

“Our driven and static products all offer the latest advances in gear, bearing and seal technology,” commented Bob Nuccitelli, driven & static and workholding product manager. “At this yearís WESTEC show weíll have our latest products on display, including both external and internal coolant type tools. With this product launch, Parlec will be the only manufacturer currently building these tools in the U.S.”

The Series 975 and 2500 TMM Parsetter will also be a main focus of Parlecís display. Released in 2004, Parlecís flagship machine, the 2500 TMM, can be configured to handle small tools or those up to 1,000 mm (40”) in length and 950 mm (38”) in diameter. Parlec’s latest presetting advancement offers a machine with ergonomics, a thermally stable mass, compact footprint and motorized positioning into an expandable and modular system that, according to the company, is the most accurate and repeatable tool measuring machine in the world.

Additional products on display at WESTEC this year for Parlec will be those in the companyís workholding line. The PWS-6900 vise, with the largest jaw opening in its class (nine inches), will be available for demonstration. This vise has an angle-lock design to prevent lifting of the movable jaw, with a bed height matched to size 2.875” (73.025mm) +/- 0.0005” with repeatability within 0.001.

“We’ve improved industry standards with the PWS-6900,” stated Nuccitelli. “This vise provides a more rigid stationary jaw and robust main screw that can handle higher torque loads than current vises in the marketplace.”
