General Purpose of Job

To insure Parlec’s resources are properly maintained and improved upon on a daily basis. To insure minimum production downtime due to mechanical failure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner by getting along with customers, clients, co-workers, supervisors, managers, and all other employees.
  • Responsible for adhering to and maintaining all ISO 9001 procedures and requirements of the Maintenance functions. This includes active participation in the internal and external audits when necessary.
  • Supervise department personnel, schedule workload, hire, firing, evaluating, training and coaching.
  • Suggest departmental/company policies and procedure improvements.
  • Prioritize and coordinate repair and preventative maintenance of manufacturing machines and equipment..
  • Assure proper recordkeeping of all preventative maintenance completions.
  • Provide direction and materials for employees responsible for maintenance procedure.
  • Install, maintain and repair machinery, equipment, physical structure, plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Maintain a selective inventory of replacement parts and maintenance supplies.
  • Maintain a comprehensive maintenance file on all production and non-production machines.
  • Schedule service technicians.
  • Supervise installation of new equipment.

Education and/or Experience

High School diploma or equivalent and two to four years maintenance experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises employees in the Maintenance Department. Perform supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Computer Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
