General Purpose of Job
Support sales opportunities by providing technical assistance, applications analysis, and support to Parlec Sales Department, their sales agents, and Parlec customers worldwide. Perform on-site and in-house installation, service, training, and product support for Parlec Products worldwide. Regular travel, both domestic and international is required. This position is critical to the interface between Parlec and the customer. This position is a key contributor in the overall product plan implementation. This function must interact with all facets of the Parlec organization to meet intended goals. Many of the responsible parties involved in meeting his/her goals do not report to him/her. As a result, the Field Applications Specialist must have excellent interpersonal skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that shows respect for customers and co-workers.
- Responsible for adhering to and maintaining all applicable ISO procedures. This includes active participation in the internal and external audits when necessary.
- Provide on-site and in-house product, technical, and applications support to Parlec Sales Department and their representatives.
- Responsible for on-site implementation and integration of Parsetter TMM systems. Provides applications analysis, training, and support of Parsetter TMM products to meet or exceed customer requirements and expectations.
- Perform on-site installations, warranty and non-warranty service calls, customer training, product upgrades, and in-house product repairs of Parsetter TMM products as requested by Parsetter TMM Service Coordinator.
- Be available for travel worldwide whenever necessary to fulfill responsibilities.
- Engage in ongoing training to retain a competent level of knowledge to effectively execute the responsibilities of the position.
- Support 1-800 and Internet customer service response.
- Support continuous training of Parsetter TMM worldwide sales and service organizations.
- Report and communicate with the Parsetter TMM Service Coordinator and Product Manager all issues beyond the scope of the standard reports that impact customer service and/or internal product, service and operational efficiency.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Mechanical Engineering or related field; or three years minimum related experience and/or training in a metalworking manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and risk of electrical shock, depending on the customer’s working environment in which he/she is exposed to. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
